Tonie Fuchs was appointed Managing Director on 1 July 2016. He joined Capespan Group in 2013 as executive assistant to the managing director. He is a member of the group executive committee and serves on various group boards. Previously, Tonie practiced law as an attorney before joing Arch Equity Limited as an executive in 2004. Tonie was co-founder of Thembeka Capital Limited, an empowerment investment company, where he served as chief operating officer since 2006.
Leon van Biljon
Capespan Group Limited has appointed Leon van Biljon as chief executive officer fruit marketing. With a stellar track record in the fruit industry, Van Biljon holds a B Comm from Stellenbosch University and an Honours degree in Economics from the US.
Dr Dawie Ferreira
Has been CEO of the Capespan Logistics Division since 2005. He worked as an agricultural scientist for 16 years before becoming professor of Horticulture at the University of Pretoria. In addition, he served a number of terms as president of the Southern African Society for Horticultural Sciences, Southern African Plant Breeders Association, the International Plant Propagators Society and as board member of the SA Academy of Science and Art, as well as editor of Applied Plant Science. He joined Outspan International in 1997 and when Capespan was established in 1999, he was appointed GM Logistics. Dawie serves as chairperson and board member of various Capespan subsidiaries and associated companies.
Andrew de Haast
Has been chief financial officer of the Capespan Group since 2002, as well as a director of the main board. After finishing his articles in 1993, he remained at Deloitte & Touche as manager. He subsequently joined Unifruco Limited and held various financial positions until his appointment as group CFO. He currently serves on various boards within the group.
Burton joined the Capespan Group in 2014 as General Manager: Group Legal Services and Company Secretary. He is an admitted advocate of the High Court of South Africa and previously practiced as an advocate at the Cape Bar specialising in contract and commercial law. He has been working in the agricultural corporate environment as legal advisor and company secretary since 2011 before joining Capespan.
Is group general manager corporate services and serves on certain boards and remuneration committees of a number of Capespan subsidiaries. With various human resource management qualifications under his belt, he’s a council member and the immediate past-chairman of the South African Agricultural Produce Agents Council and serves on the board of Wesgro.
