    Place of Hope and Mercy

    13 Nov 2015

Since 2012 to date, the partnership between Mercy Care, MaristCare, Metspan and the Capespan Foundation, is ensuring quality pre-school education to more than 100 children living in the Valencia community, Addo, Eastern Cape.

This partnership between Mercy Care, MaristCare, Metspan and the Capespan Foundation started with the construction of a spacious face-brick classroom, storeroom, kitchen and toilet facilities for teaching staff and pre-school children.

A second classroom was added early in 2014 to accommodate the growing number of children in need of pre-school development and day-care, which allows the mothers the opportunity obtain employment and generate an income.

A customised reefer container was obtained in partnership with Safmarine, delivered by Madiba Logistics company, as part of a joint venture initiative to also provide the much needed clinic consultation rooms and a craft/skills training venue easily accessable to the local needy community.

Continued support services and management of the facility is provided by the stakeholder NGOs, who are supported and endorsed by the local community.
